Permeability tests

Soil permeability determines the water flow characterises in soil, that is, a soil’s ability to allow water to pass through it. The permeability is calculated as coefficient of permeability (k) - also known as hydraulic conductivity-  and is based on Darcy’s law for laminar flow in sediment. The coefficient is defined as the rate of flow through a cross section of soil.  Depending on the type of soil, either a constant-head or falling-head permeameter can be used to measure the permeability.
